Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the safety of an occupant by fitting a means for restraining the retreat of a steering wheel at the head-on collision.
SOLUTION: A steering shaft part 15b is supported, through a supporting bracket 16, on a welded part between a front side frame 1R and a suspension tower 20, namely, a section whose strength is high and whose retreat displacement is relatively small at the time of head-on collision. The third joint J3 whose structure is fragile is fitted below the front of the steering shaft part 15b. The rearward and upward movement is inhibited by the supporting bracket 16 and a click member, therefore, it is possible to restrain a steering wheel switch from retreating even when an engine retreats at the head-on collision.
