To provide a small front drive type wheelchair which can obtain driving forces by stepping actions of users themselves or a motor while enabling the use thereof indoors, within facilities, on roads or wherever possible in a barrier free manner by enabling easier ride over steps and spinning.

The front drive type wheelchair is provided with a body frame 1 of the wheelchair, left and right front wheels 2 with a larger radius than that of rear wheels mounted on the body frame, at least one rear wheel 3 mounted on the body frame, a steering device 8 and a drive mechanism 4 capable of applying driving forces to at least one front wheel. The drive mechanism can apply the driving forces by the stepping actions of the users themselves and the steering device comprises a mechanism which differentiates the driving forces applied to the left and right front wheels to generate a speed difference between the left and right front wheels. The rear wheels are made up of casters with a smaller diameter.
