Title:
FRONT WHEEL LOCKING DEVICE FOR HANDLEBARS IMMOBILIZING TYPE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000211567
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To stabilize a bicycle parked or prevent accidental lateral turning motion of the handlebars, and free the bicycle from interference with others parked thereabout when it is moved away from them, by immobilizing the handlebars in a straight-ahead position and locking the front wheel at the same time only through a locking operation of the front wheel via fixed-part tubes of the bicycle body.

The front wheel locking device of a handlebars immobilizing type comprises a lock support mechanism 3 arranged on a lower down tube 1 adjacent to an upper down tube 9 in a bicycle-body-framing fixed part, bowed lock arms 2 at the ends of the lock support mechanism 3, and coupler locks 4 at the free ends of the right and left lock arms 2. For bicycle parking, the bowed lock arms 2 extending from the lower down tube 1 are manually swung down before a male coupler is fitted in a female coupler between adjacent front-wheel spokes 12 from both the sides. For bicycle riding, the lock is manually released with a key put in a keyhole before the bowed lock arms 2 are swung above the lower down tube 1 and seated on a lock storage hook 7.
