PURPOSE: To continuously and further automatically measure a distance in the width direction of rails by measuring a distance, between an optical displacement sensor and an opposite contact part to a vertical surface contact part of the front wheel rail by means of a beam of light emitted from the optical displacement sensor.
CONSTITUTION: An inspection-measuring bar is set to a ring plate 6a of a step chain 6 by removing about three arbitrary steps, mounting a frame 7 to a front wheel axle 5 in an opening part and using two kinds of telescopic mechanisms, thereafter a passenger conveyer is started. Here a laser beam is irradiated to an opposite contact surface to a contact part 14 from an optical displacement sensor 11, mounted to both end parts of the inspection-measuring bar, from the lower of the step chain 6, and a distance is continuously measured. A signal is decided for whether it is in or not in a specified value in a signal processing part 8 mounted to the frame 7 by a signal wire 12. By this constitution, automatic decision can be attained, and no personal error is generated in the measured result together with reduction of a work time.
