Title:
FROST FORMATION DETECTION METHOD FOR OUTDOOR HEAT EXCHANGER FOR HEAT PUMP TYPE AIR CONDITIONER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3167471
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make it possible to detect frost formation in an outdoor heat exchanger by determining that the degree of frost formation exceeds an allowable value at the point of time when the difference between a fin surface temperature near the inlet of a refrigerant pipe for an outdoor heat exchanger and a fin surface temperature near the central part of the refrigerant pipe reaches a specific value.
CONSTITUTION: The difference ΔT=T1-T2 between a fin surface temperature T1 near a refrigerant pipe inlet 2a of an outdoor heat exchanger 1 and a fin surface temperature T2 near the central part 2b of the refrigerant pipe is closely correlated with not only an operation elapsed time of the outdoor heat exchanger 1 but also a progressing state of frost formation. Therefore, a temperature measurement means is installed to specified two spots on the outer surfaces of fins 3 so as to measure the fin surface temperatures T1 and T2. At the point of time when the ΔT reaches a specified value, it is determined that the frost formation on the heat exchanger 1 exceeds an allowable limit. This construction makes it possible to detect a progressing state of frost formation definitely even if the open air temperature and the air quantity of the heat exchanger or the like may be subjected to changes.
