To provide low-molecular fucoidan-derived low-molecular compounds causing little problems related to absorbency, antigenicity, uniformity, anticoagulation activity, etc., having a specified structure and functions and produced when fucoidan which is a sulfated polysaccharide having an ultrahigh molecular weight is developed as a medicine or a heathy food.
The new fucoidan-derived oligosaccharides (I) to (XI) described in the specification are found out by hydrolyzing the fucoidan with an acid. The oligosaccharides are found to have various regulating actions on immunological functions such as an IFN-γ (interferon-γ) inducing ability, an IL-10 and IL-12 (interleukin-10 and 12) inducing ability, dendritic cell maturing actions or CTL (cytotoxic T lymphocyte) activity inducing actions.
