To provide a fuel cell preventing a decrease of an output from the fuel cell due to degradation of catalyst activity at a subfreezing temperature and a power generation failure due to a gas diffusion inhibition by the freezing of generated water in a gas diffusion layer, the fuel cell exhibiting high battery performance and remaining stable even at the subfreezing temperature.
The fuel cell 100 includes a laminated body of a unit cell 10 sandwiched by a pair of separators 6a, 6b formed with reaction gas passages 7a, 7b, a reaction gas supplying manifold 24 provided to penetrate in a laminating direction to supply reaction gas, a reaction gas exhaust manifold 25 provided to penetrate in the laminating direction to exhaust the reaction gas, a reaction gas exhaust pipe 33 provided downstream of the reaction gas exhaust manifold, and a liquid container 20 which contains liquid expanding in volume when freezing and which has elasticity in at least any one of the reaction gas passages 7a, 7b, the reaction gas exhaust manifold 24, and the reaction gas exhaust manifold 25.
