Disclosed is a fuel cell system that comprises a third exhaust gas path 19, extending downward from an inlet 16, whose one end is arranged below the position of a marginal part 18 of the main body 15 of a condensate water tank 10. Therefore, even the water level in the condensate water tank 10 rises due to a block in a discharge path 13, the water level is configured to reach the one end of the third exhaust gas path 19 before it reaches the connected position of the man body 15 and the marginal part 18. Due to this configuration, to discharge the exhaust gas becomes impossible before the water level in the condensate water tank 10 reaches the position of the main body 15 and the marginal part 18. This enables the detection of a defect in the fuel cell system to stop its operation so as to prevent an overflow of condensed water 9 from the condensate water tank 10.
