To provide a fuel consumption ranking method that can take into consideration a vehicle speed and an environmental element of ambient temperature or the like to a traffic element which cannot be certainly controlled with skill and intention of a driver among a plurality of elements affecting fuel consumption in addition to a conventional vehicle type.
The fuel consumption ranking method includes the stages of: selecting a single or a plurality of elements as categories or variables; gathering vehicle data including a fuel consumption and a variable value during a trip each time a vehicle driver makes the trip; calculating an average of the fuel consumption and an average of the variable value as a fuel consumption and a variable value of the trip when the trip ends; classifying the fuel consumption and variable value of the trip into a category that the vehicle driver belongs to and storing them; statistically processing fuel consumptions of trips belonging to the same category by coordinate points of variables to calculate average and standard deviations of the fuel consumptions; normalizing the fuel consumptions of the trips based upon the average and standard deviations of the fuel consumptions (GAP); and ranking cumulative averages of GAP by vehicle drivers in decreasing order.
