PURPOSE: To prevent the fluctuation of a fuel feed amount for accurately controlling an air-fuel ratio and stabilizing the idling state of an internal combustion engine by stopping the correction of a fuel feed amount corresponding to a fuel amount deposited on an air intake pipe and a fuel amount carried from the intake pipe to a fuel combustion chamber during the idling air operation of the internal combustion engine.
CONSTITUTION: An internal combustion engine 1 has a fuel injection valve 6 fitted to an air intake pipe 2, and an air intake control valve 26 fitted to an auxiliary air passage 27 open to the atmosphere through the air intake pipe 2 via an air cleaner 22. Also, each of valves 6 and 26 is controlled by an ECU 5 on the basis of various detected signals from each type of sensors 4, 8 to 13 and 15 to detect the speed of the engine 1, the loaded state thereof or the like. In other words, a fuel feed amount is corrected, depending upon a fuel amount deposited on the air intake pipe 2 and a fuel amount carried from the pipe 2 to a fuel combustion chamber. In this case, the correction corresponding to the deposited fuel amount and the carried fuel amount is interrupted in the idling state of the engine 1, thereby preventing the fluctuation of fuel feed amount due to absolute pressure fluctuation in the air intake pipe 2 during the idling operation of the engine 1.
