Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which determines whether fuel supplied to an internal combustion engine from a fuel tank is deteriorated or not.SOLUTION: The more fuel is deteriorated, the higher concentrations of carboxyl group and water become and, therefore, relative dielectric constant of the fuel increases. A fuel deterioration determination device measures the relative dielectric constant of fuel as an initial value when the fuel is fed to a fuel tank additionally (oil feeding time point) (step 410 to step 435) and measures the relative dielectric constant of the fuel at a predetermined time point in a period from the oil feeding to the subsequent oil feeding as an oil feeding after value (step 445 to step 460). Therein, a first device gains a difference Δε between the oil feeding later value and the initial value as a deterioration index value and, when the deterioration determination index value Δε gets to a predetermined threshold Δεth or more, it is determined that the fuel is deteriorated (step 465 and step 470).
