Title:
FUEL FLOW-OUT LOCK AS PART OF VENTILATION SYSTEM FOR FUEL TANK
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2532014
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To allow only a predetermined amount of fuel to flow-out to prevent continuous flow-out of fuel even when a fuel tank falls down sidelong or turns upside-down by mounting a fuel flow-out lock having a conduit communicating with an inlet conduit and an outlet chamber at an inlet chamber above the maximum fuel level in a tank installation attitude.
CONSTITUTION: A fuel flow-out lock 32 having a casing 34 in which inlet/outlet chambers 36 and 38 are formed by a middle partition 40 having a connecting conduit 44 is located in an inner side of a surge tank connected to an upper side of the fuel tank 10 by connecting conduits 22 and 24. In the outlet chamber of the fuel flow-out lock 32 are determined to have a predetermined relation the distance between an inlet conduit 42 having an opening to the surge tank 16 and the connecting conduit 44, the distance between ends thereof and the middle partition 44 and the volume of the inlet/outlet chambers 36 and 38. When the tank falls down sidelong or turns upside-down, the fuel flows out to the surge tank 16 via the connecting conduit and further flows in the outlet chamber 38 via the inlet conduit 42, the inlet chamber 36 and the connecting conduit 44 but can not leak out. According, continuous flow-out of the fuel is prevented by allowing only a limited amount of the fuel to leak out even the tank falls down sidelong or turns upsidedown.
