Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of a situation where a piezoelectric element effects no expansion and contraction operation owing to the increase of the temperature of the piezoelectric element and to prevent production of the rapid change of the coefficient of fuel injection during the stop of pilot injection.
CONSTITUTION: A fuel injection control device comprises a fuel injection pump l having a cam plate 8 to which a face cam 8a is formed, a fuel injection nozzle 4, a piezo spill valve 23 having a piezo element 30, and a thermo-couple 77 to detect the element temperature of the piezo element 30. A CPU causes execution of pilot injection using the low injection factor region in the face cam region of a cam plate 8, and execution of maim injection by using a region preceded by a low injection factor region when an element temperature by the thermo-couple 77 is lower than a predetermined upper limit element temperature. The CPU stops pilot injection when the element temperature exceeds an upper limit element temperature and performs main injection by using a face cam region wherein an injection factor is a value equivalent to a value available during execution of pilot injection.
