To protect a stopped injector from thermal damage even when two injectors are arranged per one cylinder and one of the injectors is stopped injecting fuel.
The two injectors 6a, 6b are arranged in an intake passage 2 communicating with one cylinder 1a, when F=0, a fuel injection quantity Tp1 of the first injector 6a is set at a demanded injection quantity Tp and a fuel injection quantity Tp2 of the second injector 6b is set at zero and is stopped injecting (S9). When F=1, the fuel injection quantity Tp1 of the first injector 6a is set at zero and is stopped injecting and the fuel injection quantity Tp2 of the second injector 6b is set at the demanded injection quantity Tp (S10). The injector flag F is bit-flipped when a cycle number T1 subjected to increment at every computing cycle reaches an injection stop period cycle number limiter B set for protecting the injectors from thermal damage (S12, S14).
