Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an air-fuel mixture near an ignition plug by a fuel spray injected by a first fuel injection pulse signal and to improve the combustibility by dividing the fuel injection pulse signal in a compression stroke into a plurality of pieces, and setting the first fuel injection pulse width longer than a second and later fuel injection pulse widths. SOLUTION: When an engine is controlled by a controller, a fuel injection period is set to intake stroke in homogeneous combustion range, and an air-fuel ratio is set within a narrow range around a theoretical air-fuel ratio. On the other hand, the fuel injection period is set to the latter part of compression stroke in stratified combustion range. In the stratified combustion range, the pulse signal in the same cycle is divided into a plurality of signals, for example, three, a first injection pulse width is set longer than a second injection pulse width, and the second injection pulse width is set longer than a third injection pulse width. Thus, an air-fuel mixture satisfying the combustible air-fuel mixture concentration can be generated near an ignition plug 7 to improve the combustibility.
