To prevent a torque from lowering and the amount of soot from increasing by holding the optimum timing of a post-injection even during the acceleration with an increased variation in suction amount in a diesel engine performing the post-injection with reference to the end time of combustion by main injection.
A suction amount Aire is estimated (S12), a target torque Tr is set (S13), a main injection amount Qm, a main injection timing Im, and a post-injection amount QF are set from the Aire, Tr, and an engine speed, (S14) and a corrected post-injection timing IF by learning is read and set as a basic post-injection timing IFB (S15). The acceleration is judged from the amount of variation (Δα) in the opening of an accelerator (S16) and, during the acceleration, the basic post-injection timing IFB is corrected to advance by an acceleration correction amount IFacc to set the timing as a final post-injection timing IF (S17).
