To improve performance of an engine with fuel injection valves in both of an upstream side and a downstream side of an intake air passage.
A fuel injection device for the engine 60 includes a downstream side fuel injection valve 71 provided in the intake air passage 63a connected to a combustion chamber 62 and injecting fuel into the intake air passage 63a, and an upstream side fuel injection valve 72 provided in the upstream side of the downstream side fuel injection valve 71 in the intake air passage 63a and injecting fuel into the intake air passage 63a. Fuel injection pressure applied to the upstream side fuel injection valve 72 is set higher than fuel injection pressure applied to the downstream side fuel injection valve 71. Fuel is injected from both fuel injection valves 71, 72 at fuel injection distribution rate according to detected load of the engine.
