To adjust a fuel amount supplied into a high pressure pump accumulator at a high accuracy and in a simple form with a control valve.
In a fuel injection device for an internal combustion engine, the high pressure pump 14 for supplying fuel into the accumulator 16 is provided, an injector 18 disposed in a cylinder of the internal combustion engine is connected to the accumulator, and a feed pump 10 is disposed. Fuel is supplied from a fuel storage vessel 12 to a suction side of a high pressure pump 14 by the feed pump, an electric operation type control valve 54 for adjusting the fuel amount supplied into the accumulator by the high pressure pump 14 is provided, and the control valve 54 is disposed on the pressure side of the high pressure pump 14. The control valve 54 is switched between a first switch position where the pressure side of the high pressure pump 14 is separated from a bursting region and a second switch position where the pressure side of the high pressure pump 14 is connected to the bursting region.
