Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make securing of excellent exhaust properties compatible with restraining of diesel knock by injecting fuel at a high oil feeding rate in the normal time and at a low oil feeding rate in cold in a fuel injection device of an internal combustion engine suitable for fuel supply to a diesel engine.

CONSTITUTION: A cam plate 8 connected to a drive shaft 5, and integrally provided with a plunger 12 is provided. A cam roller 10 is arranged by brought in contact with a cam face 8a, and the plunger 12 is reciprocated according to the rotation of the drive shaft. A spill valve 23 is so provided as to be communicated with a high pressure chamber 15. The spill valve 23 is closed until injection of the desired amount of fuel is completed after reciprocation of the plunger 12 reaches the specific prestroke. An ECU 40 decreases the prestroke as it is cold, so as to decrease the oil feeding rate of a fuel injection pump 1.
