The fuel injection device 1 includes a nozzle body 40, a fuel injection valve 20, and an actuator 60. A first fuel holding chamber 41 and a needle valve close chamber 43 are formed in the nozzle body 40. The fuel injection valve 20 provides communication between the first fuel passage 51 and the first fuel holding chamber 41 by moving forward to a first position, and shuts off the first fuel passage 51 and the first fuel holding chamber 41 and provides communication between the first fuel holding chamber 41 and a third fuel passage 53 by moving backward to a second position with the first fuel holding chamber 41 and the third fuel passage 53 shut off. An actuator 60 executes a first transfer control for transferring the injection control valve 20 at first transfer speed when the injection control valve 20 is transferred from the first position to the second position, and a second transfer control for transferring the injection control valve 20 at second transfer speed slower than the first transfer speed.
