To reduce the reaction to be applied to an round and projected end part of a cam rope, and to improve the engine output and the fuel consumption by providing a spill device to automatically spill (discharge) the fuel from a pump chamber before the pump stroke inward of a pump plunger is completed.

The fuel injection is completed by connecting a pump chamber 39 to a housing cavity through holes 128, 129 by a spill device 8 at the prescribed time in the pump stroke inward of pump plungers 38... to be cooperated with a cam ring arranged on the outer circumferential side. The spill device 8 comprises a spill valve 100, a pair of valve actuator rods 102 which are extended in the radial direction and opposite to each other in the radial direction, and an intermediate cam shoe 103, and a spool type valve member 104 of the spill valve 100 is urged toward the valve closing position by a compression spring 108. The valve member 104 drives the force to be applied to the plunger 38 similarly by the cam ring.
