PURPOSE: To prevent lag in ignition, by providing a notch on the outside surface of a plunger head, reducing combustion noise by delaying fuel injection timing at the time of no-load low-speed turning and advancing the fuel injection timing at the time of no-load turning at a high speed.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of no-load turning at a low speed, and when a plunger 2 is in the stage of lifting, even if the top surface of the plunger 2 and the top end of a feed ball 3a are to coincide with each other, fuel is allowed to escape from a notch 2b, and the fuel injection timing is a little delayed. At the time of no-load turning at a high speed, as depth (d) of the notch 2b is smaller than diameter of the plunger 2, the notch 2b is prevented from allowing the fuel to escape due to dynamic effect, and therefore, it takes the same effect as absence of the notch 2b at the time of fuel injection.
