To provide a distributor type fuel injection pump which suppresses an increase in temperature of fuel in a high-pressure chamber defined by a cylinder and a plunger of a pump body, thereby preventing decrease in lubrication of fuel, and preventing sticking between the inner peripheral face of the cylinder and the outer peripheral face of the plunger.
An overflow pipe 9 constituting a fuel discharging passage 61 connected, via a fuel passage 21, to fuel passages 19, 20, 23, 26 and an annular passage 18 which perform both taking fuel from a pump chamber 2 formed in a pump housing 3 into a high-pressure chamber 56 and discharging extra fuel from the high-pressure chamber 56 into the pump chamber 2 is integrated with the outer wall of a side wall portion of the pump housing 3 at its side. With this, fuel that has been increased both pressure and temperature in the stroke for distributing and pressure-feeding of a pump body 8 is returned from the overflow pipe 9 into a fuel tank 10 via a fuel passage 62, whereby an increase in temperature of fuel in the high-pressure chamber 56 is suppressed.
