PURPOSE: To improve precision of fuel injection quantity control without increasing the whole pulse number of a pulser to detect an engine rotational angle in a fuel injection pump of a diesel engine to control fuel injection quantity by driving and controlling a spill valve.
CONSTITUTION: A dense tooth part A of a small pulse interval and a rough tooth part of a large pulse interval are formed over the whole periphery of a pulser 7 of an engine speed detector 35 used for computation of fuel injection quantity. A region of the tooth part where the pulse interval is densely arranged is at least positioned in a fluctuating region at a spill valve opening position. Consequently, while precision of a computation result of fuel injection time is improved by increasing the number of a rotational angle pulses required for fuel injection quantity computation, increase in the burden of a CPU by interrupt computation is avoided.
