To reduce noise while improving the fuel efficiency of an engine.SOLUTION: A fuel injection system 1 includes a fuel tank 5 storing fuel to be supplied to an engine 3, a first high pressure fuel pump 11 for boosting the fuel and supplying it to a fuel gallery (a first fuel gallery 15), a second high pressure fuel pump 13 for boosting the fuel and supplying it to a fuel gallery (a second fuel gallery 17), a first pump cam (a first cam) 53 to be rotated with the power of the engine 3 to drive the first high pressure pump 11, a second pump cam (a second cam) 55 to be rotated with the power of the engine 3 to drive the second high pressure fuel pump 13, and a lift amount variable mechanism 57 for changing the lift amount of the second pump cam 55.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
