PURPOSE: To aim at enhancing the control ability and processing ability, by forming an air pocket for stabilizing the stream of air, in a part of a communication passage branching from a main bypass passage formed therein with a hot-wire type air flowmeter.
CONSTITUTION: A hot-wire 7 in a hot-wire type air flowmeter 6 is disposed in a main bypass passage 8 for bypassing air-suction cylinders 2, 2'. An air pocket 12 for stabilizing the stream of intake-air passing by the hot-wire 7 is provided downstream of the main bypass passage 8. Bypassing air is returned into the air suction cylinders 2, 2' through a communication passage 13 connected to the air pocket 12 and formed in parallel with a throttle valve shaft 4 and outlet passages 14, 14'. Thus, it is possible to aim at simplifying the arrangement of the bypass passage and at enhancing the processing ability.
