Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To completely prevent occurrence of misfire and increase of NOx generation quantity even if desired EGR rate is not materialized due to increase and decrease delay of re-circulating exhaust gas in a changeover of a fuel injection timing in a fuel injection timing changeover control method for an internal combustion engine including an exhaust gas re-circulating device and materializing stratified combustion by injecting fuel at an end of a compression stroke when engine load is less than a designated load and materializing homogeneous combustion by injecting fuel during suction stroke when engine load is the designated load or more.
SOLUTION: The increase and decrease delay of re-circulating exhaust gas quantity is detected (step 112 or 116) in changeover of fuel injection timing, fuel is injected at each fuel injection timing at the end of compression strokes and in a middle of suction strokes (step 113, 117) while the increase and decrease delay is being detected.
