To measure a fuel injection timing accurately by monitoring speed change of fuel in a delivery tube of a diesel engine by a speed detecting type sensor arranged in the vicinity of a fuel injection nozzle, and detecting the fuel injection timing as well as capturing pulsation of fuel when the fuel injection nozzle is opened/closed.
Speed change of fuel in a delivery tube of a diesel engine is detected by a speed detecting type sensor which is arranged in the vicinity of a fuel injection nozzle of the delivery tube and in which a piezoelectric element is used. A speed signal (a) of fuel outputted by a speed sensor when a fuel injection pump is driven, forms a peak (b) of a fist amplitude. A time of a value (c) (an injection timing specified value which falls a constant ratio from a peak (b) value of the first amplitude, is detected as a fuel injection timing. A detecting mark arranged on a fly wheel and the like is synchronized with the fuel injection timing, and a crank angle at the time of injection is known by means such that a timing light is emitted, on the basis of synchronizing the fuel injection timing.
