To avoid damage of a valve member at an opening stroke and enable injection time adjustment effecting on combustion in a combustion chamber.
A fuel injection valve for an internal combustion engine in which a valve member 11 shiftable toward outside the axial direction against force of a closing spring 47 in a hole 9 of a valve element 1 has a closing head 13 projecting from the hole 9 and forming a valve closing member in an end at a combustion chamber and the closing head 13 has a valve sealing surface 15 at the valve element side and the closing head 13 is cooperates with a valve seat surface 17 disposed in an end surface at the combustion chamber of the valve element on the valve sealing surface 15 and an injection opening 23 extending from a pressure chamber 19 is mounted in the closinghead 13 and a flow opening 25 of the injection opening is covered with the valve element 1 at a closing position of the valve member 11 and opened at opening stroke toward outside and a shock absorbing chamber 35 for absorbing stroke movement of the valve member 11 toward opening direction is mounted in the fuel injection valve.
