To prepare a fuel oil composition having more excellent performance than a conventional gasoline detergent, not forming sludge and especially manifesting excellent detergent effect even when an engine is in a cold start by including a compound having amine group combined with aromatic ring.
This fuel oil composition includes a compound having amine group combined with aromatic ring such as benzene ring, naphthalene one or anthracene one and e.g. being expressed by formulas I-IV (wherein, R1 and R2 are each H or a 1-30C hydrocarbon; R5 is R1; R9 is R1, a 1-30C alkoxy or a 1-30C alkanol; R15 and R16 are each a 1-30C hydrocarbon, a 1-30C alkoxy or a 1-30C alkanol). The added quantity of the compound is preferably 0.0001-10% by mass (more preferably 0.01-3% by mass) based on the total weight of the fuel oil composition.
