PURPOSE: To prevent the consumption of an electrolyte and the increase in the contact resistance between a fuel gas passage plate and an electrode or a separator plate, by coating the fuel gas passage plate with an electroconductive material stable against a fuel gas and the electrolyte.
CONSTITUTION: A fuel gas passage plate 9 is coated with an electroconductive material 10 stable against a fuel gas and an electrolyte. The fuel gas passage plate 9 is thus prevented from reacting with the fuel gas and the electrolyte. The electroconductive material itself does not react with the fuel gas and the electrolyte. As a result, the electrolyte is kept from being consumed due to reacting with the fuel gas passage plate 9, and the increase in the contact resistance between the plate 9 and the electrolyte or a separator plate is prevented.
