To securely fix a fuel pump housed inside a top cowling to an engine main body in a compact manner without any need of cumbersome fixing work in an engine for an outboard motor with a simple structure in which no extra part is interposed between camshafts and the fuel pump.
In a 4-cycle engine for an outboard motor in which camshafts 20, 21 for actuating intake/exhaust valves 17, 18 in association with rotation of a crankshaft are disposed in an engine main body and a fuel pump 43 for causing fuel to flow by a reciprocating motion of a plunger 43b is driven in association with rotation of the camshaft 20 so as to feed the fuel to the engine main body on a side of the outboard motor from a fuel tank on a side of a hull, the fuel pump 43 is disposed in the engine main body in such a manner that the plunger 43b of the fuel pump 43 directly abuts against a cam nose of the camshaft 20 for actuating the valve.
