Title:
FUEL PUMP WITH VAPOR SUCTION ADJUSTING MECHANISM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000027724
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To prevent vapor lock within a fuel pump by constituting the fuel pump so as to be provided with a vapor entrance duct leading to a fuel entrance filter and the inside of the filter, to make vapor air bubbles kept within the filter smaller and to limit fuel vapor amount sucked at one time when air bubbles are sucked into the fuel pump.

During an operation of a fuel pump 10, fuel from a fuel tank 32 is drawn within a fuel filter surrounding body 16 within a fuel pump module 30 and fuel is partially evaporated when fuel passes through a fuel filter 12. Fuel vapor within the fuel filter surrounding body 16 becomes air bubbles within liquid fuel or by separation, and air bubbles accumulate in the vicinity of a fuel filter upper wall 20 and form a large-sized vapor air bubbles. An entrance sleeve 22 in which a vapor entrance duct 18 is passed through a side wall is extended within the fuel filter surrounding body 16, and when large-sized vapor air bubbles are drawn to a reduced pat of the vapor entrance duct 18 of the entrance sleeve 22, air bubbles are divided into a plurality of small air bubbles and are dispersed into liquid fuel, and fuel vapor excess amount is not drawn within the fuel pump 10 at one time.
