Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel pump which suppresses the lowering of a flow rate caused by the generation of vapor.SOLUTION: In a fuel pump 12, a corner E2 of a suction port 24 is formed in the vicinity of a bottom, and an inside diameter gradient from a port root up to the corner E2 forms a relatively-gentle and substantially-constant angle, and thereby a decrease of a flow passage cross section area in the depth direction of the suction port 24 is relatively small. Then, a suction connecting part 25 is formed within a range of substantially one third to substantially half from the bottom of the suction port 24. An opening area So2 of the suction connecting part 25 according to this embodiment is substantially 22 mm. A flow rate lowering rate with respect to an initial flow rate when the fuel pump 12 is operated at a prescribed number of rotation in a constant-temperature bath which is high in temperature is 13% with respect to a value lower than 20% which is a required specification. From this result, if the opening area is 22 mmor larger, the lowering of the flow rate at the generation of vapor at a high temperature can be suppressed.
