Abstract:
To provide a fuel reformer which can efficiently finish the warmup of a reforming catalyst and the defrosting of a water tank while making compatible both the warmup and the defrosting by efficiently using the heat of an exhaust gas, and can quickly start to create hydrogen by using the reforming catalyst, and its control method.SOLUTION: An exhaust gas passage 10 of an internal combustion engine E is branched to a reforming-catalyst side exhaust gas passage 10A and a water-tank side exhaust gas passage 10B, a reforming catalyst 1 is arranged on the reforming-catalyst side exhaust gas part 10A, and a water tank 2 is arranged on the water-tank side exhaust gas passage 10B. A target catalyst temperature arrival time Tc at which the reforming catalyst 1 arrives at a target reforming catalyst temperature (activation temperature), and a target water tank temperature arrival time Tw at which the water tank 2 arrives at a target water tank temperature (defrosting temperature) are estimated on the basis of temperatures of the reforming catalyst 1 and the water tank 2, and a flow rate ratio of an exhaust gas to the reforming-catalyst side exhaust gas passage 10A and the water-tank side exhaust gas passage 10B is adjusted by an exhaust-gas flow rate adjustment valve 12 so as to satisfy Tc=Tw.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
