To improve startability of a fuel reforming device and responsibility to load fluctuation and to contrive miniaturization and simplification of the device.
This reforming device is composed of an injector 30 spraying reforming raw material consisting of methanol as hydrocarbonic fuel and water into a mixing chamber 32, and a blower 34 blowing air into the mixing chamber 32, and a homogenizing member 38 homogenizing mixture of the reforming raw material which is formed and sprayed from a porous material, and air, also provided at a entry part of the reforming part 40. The quick response to the load fluctuation can be attained by controlling the spraying amount of reforming raw material with the injector 30, and the miniaturization can be attained as well. At the time of starting, the methanol in the sprayed reforming raw material is made to burn by ignition with the ignition device 36, and the reforming catalyst 42 of reforming part 40 is heated by using the heat obtained by the combustion. As a result, the startability of the device can be improved.
