Abstract:
A fuel reforming method and device improving fuel consumption by reforming a hydrocarbon liquid fuel, which is supplied into an internal combustion engine through a fuel feed line, into an easily and completely combustible fuel. The fuel reforming device has pipe means for forming a pipeline for causing the liquid fuel to flow in a fully filled condition, tube means for surrounding the entire periphery of the pipe means with a predetermined gap formed around the outer periphery of the pipe means, and far-infrared radiation means for radiating far infrared rays to the inside of the pipeline. The fuel reforming method performs a heating step for heating the entire periphery of the pipe means from around the outside of the pipe means, and also performs a far-infrared radiation step for radiating far infrared rays to the liquid fuel from the entire periphery of the pipeline. Flow flux generation means is installed in the pipeline. The above construction causes the liquid fuel flowing in the pipeline to generate fluxes flowing in different directions in a manner tilted relative to the axis of the pipeline, and this results in mixing of that portion of the liquid fuel that is positioned at the center of the pipeline and that portion of the liquid fuel that is positioned on the outer peripheral side of the pipeline.
