Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel reforming system excellent in improving usability of raw fuel and an octane number.SOLUTION: A fuel reforming system comprises: a reformer 15 which has a reforming catalyst generating alcohol as a main product and benzoic acid as a byproduct in a manner that reforms hydrocarbon based fuel by using air; filters 31 and 32 which are arranged at a downstream side of the reformer 15, have a sodium catalyst allowing passage of the alcohol as the main product of the reforming catalyst and collecting the benzoic acid precipitated as the byproduct, and reform the collected benzoic acid into phenol in a manner that brings the air therethrough; and passages 331 and 332 through which the phenol is merged into the main product in the reformer 15 or passages 321 and 322 through which the phenol is directly supplied to a cylinder of an engine as fuel.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
