Abstract:

PURPOSE: To give comfortable driving feeling by changing number of cylinders at the stop of an engine.

CONSTITUTION: A selection circuit 18 consists of a flip-flop circuit 20, Or circuits 23, 25, and And circuits 24, 26, to which a cylinder number control circuit 17 and fuel injection control circuit 3 are connected. When an ignition contact point is on or off by an engine key switch, the flip-flop 20 outputs 1 or 0 that if a cylinder number control signal of the cylinder number control circuit 17 is 1, the outputs of the Or circuits 23, 25 are 1. A fuel injection pulse input makes the And circuits 24, 26 open the gate to make 6-cylinder operation. With the cylinder number control signal 0, only when the flip-flop 20 puts out the signal 1, the Or circuits 23, 25 send an output 1 to open one of the And circuits 24, 26, which makes 3-cylinder operation. The cylinder number is altered only at the stop of an engine. So that intermittent combustion in cylinders can be prevented.
