Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce ignition lag and a combustion noise, by supplying auxiliary fuel of high cetane number to an intake pipe at the downstream side of a throttle valve while supplying main fuel of low cetane number from a fuel injection pump through a fuel injection valve.

CONSTITUTION: Fuel in a fuel tank 4 is conducted to the inlet port of a three-way solenoid valve 7 and then sent to a fuel property separation vessel 8 so that the fuel is divided into main fuel of low cetane number and auxiliary fuel of high cetane number. The main fuel is conducted to a fuel injection pump 2 through an outlet pipe 22. The auxiliary fuel is conducted to an intake pipe 11 at the downstream of a throttle valve 12 through a cleaned air outlet pipe 24 together with cleaned air taken in through an air cleaner and heated by a heater 10. The throttle valve 12 is opened depending on the depression of an accelerator pedal. When the depression of the accelerator pedal is small, the degree of opening of the throttle valve 12 is low the sucking negative pressure in the intake pipe 11 is strong and the intake of the cleaned air is large.
