Abstract:

To reduce fuel consumption and emission by increasing swiftly a fuel pressure at an engine start initial state without increasing cranking load, and enabling fine atomization in a fuel spraying by a high pressure fuel injection.

A rotation ratio variable transmission mechanism 5 with a variable drive rotation ratio is arranged to a power transmission passage ranging from a crankshaft 18 of the engine to a high pressure fuel pump 4. This rotation ratio variable transmission mechanism 5 controls a pump rotation speed of the high pressure fuel pump 4 so as to be greater than a normal pump rotation speed at the engine start initial state after engine complete explosion by cranking.
