Abstract:

To provide a fuel supply device for an internal combustion engine, for managing fuel pressure so that the fuel pressure in a high pressure side pipe in operation of engine performing fuel injection only from a fuel injection valve for intake passage injection, in an internal combustion engine provided with a fuel injection valve for cylinder injection and the fuel injection valve for intake passage injection.

In the operation of the engine performing the fuel injection only from a fuel injection valve 19 for intake port injection, an electronic control unit (ECU) 100 inputs fuel pressure and a water temperature in a high pressure side distribution pipe 22 from a fuel pressure sensor 26 and a water temperature sensor 29. The electronic control unit 100 calculates pressure deviation of the input fuel pressure from target fuel pressure, and determines volume elasticity modulus of fuel based on the input water temperature. And then, the electronic control unit 100 calculates a pressure-feeding amount (necessary pressure-feeding amount) of the fuel to be pressure-fed from a high pressure fuel pump 20 based on the pressure deviation, and volume elasticity of the fuel, and controls operation of the high pressure fuel pump 20 based on the calculated necessary pressure-feeding amount.
