Abstract:
To improve fuel economy performance of an engine by suppressing electric power consumption of an electric driven type low pressure fuel pump supplying fuel to an engine driven type high pressure fuel pump.
The low pressure fuel pump is controlled based on discharge which is set for starting beforehand at starting of the engine. It is determined whether it is in a steady operation state or in a transient operation state after starting. Discharge of the low pressure fuel pump is set lower than that at starting when it is in the steady operation state. Discharge is set greater than that in steady operation state in acceleration and is set less than that in steady operation state in deceleration when it is in the transient operation state.
