To reduce the cost of a conventional fuel water injection diesel engine by injecting the fuel and the water in a layered state with a simple constitution.
This fuel and water injection internal combustion engine comprises a fuel injection valve 7 for injecting the fuel and the water into a combustion chamber through a fuel passage 16, a fuel injection pump 3 for sucking and pressing the fuel to supply the fuel into the fuel passage 16, a fuel supply pump for supplying the fuel in the fuel tank 1 to the fuel injection pump 3, a water supply pump 6 for supplying the water in a water tank 5 to the fuel passage 16, a solenoid valve for fuel 4 for intermittently supplying the fuel from the fuel tank 1 to the fuel injection pump 3, and a control device 9 for closing the solenoid valve for fuel 4 at a certain period in a stroke for sucking the fuel in the fuel tank 1 by the fuel injection pump 3. The water is allowed to flow into the fuel passage 16 from the water tank 1 by utilizing the sucking action of the fuel injection pump 3 at the certain period.
