NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [R1WR7 are H, halogen, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, pyrrolyl, furyl thienyl or amino; X is O or N-R8 (R8 is H, alkyl, aryl or aralkyl)].
EXAMPLE: (E)-α-1,2,5-Trimethyl-3-pyrrolylethylidene(isopropylidene)succinic anhydride.
USE: A photosensitive material and optical recording medium having light absorption characteristics within a region at a longer wavelength than that of conventional compounds.
PREPARATION: A 3-acylpyrrole expressed by formula II and a dialkyl ethylidenesuccinate expressed by formula III (R9 is lower alkyl) are subjected to the Stobbe condensation and the reaction solution is then acidified to provide a half ester expressed by formula IV, which is subsequently hydrolyzed with an alkali and acidified to give a dicarboxylic acid. An anhydride and imide which are aimed substances are obtained from the dicarboxylic acid.
