Abstract:

To provide a novel fumaric acid diisopropyl-cinnamic acid ester copolymer that can be expected to be a retardation film excellent in optical properties such as having large refraction index and surface outer phase difference in a thickness direction of the film and high surface outer phase difference in a thin film, and to provide a retardation film using the same.

A fumaric acid diisopropyl-cinnamic acid ester copolymer contains a fumaric acid diisopropyl residue unit and a cinnamic acid ester residue unit having an alkyl group with 1 to 6 carbon atoms.
