PURPOSE: To provide a functional flame-retardant wallpaper capable of efficiently radiating far infrared ray effective for promoting the growth of animal and vegetable, the fermentation of microorganism and the health of human body.

CONSTITUTION: This functional wallpaper is produced by coating a surface material layer of a wallpaper with a coating layer containing a far infrared radiating material produced by precipitating ultrafine alumina or silica hydrate on the surface of an inorganic substance particle acting as a nucleus and a resin curable by ionizing radiation and curing the coating layer by irradiating with ionizing radiation.
