To provide a functional water generator capable of maximally utilizing functional water generated within an electrolytic vessel.
In a functional water generator performing electrode washing wherein an electrolysis unit 4 consisting of an anode and a cathode is configured within an electrolytic vessel 1, wherein, on an occasion where functional water is generated by electrolyzing, via the electrolysis unit 4, water W fed into the electrolytic vessel 1 and where the functional water is discharged from a discharge port 3 of the electrolytic vessel 1, a body of functional water is induced to remain within the electrolytic vessel 1 so as to immerse therein at least portions of both electrodes, namely anode and cathode, and wherein hardness components adhered to the electrodes at the time of the generation of the functional water are eluted into the water by streaming, through the electrodes of the electrolysis unit 4, a current disposed oppositely to that at the time of the generation of the functional water, the anode and cathode are configured in parallel opposition to one another along the vertical direction.
