PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To preserve a constructive material with fungicidal property by mixing semiconductor particles, which shows a feeble photocatalyst action, in a base material composed of polymeric materials specifying the particle size and mixture ratio.
SOLUTION: A fungicidally constructive watertight and airtight material 10, such as a gasket for fixing glass to a window, has semiconductor particles 2 showing a feeble degree of photocatalyst action that may not cause any damage to a base material mixed in the base material composed of polymeric materials 1 and is formed by depositing an antibacterial metal or an antibacterial metal compound 3 on the base material surface. The particles 2, whose diameter is 0.01 to 10μm, or preferably 0.1 to 1μm, are mixed on the base material in an amount of 0.5 to 100weight%, or preferably 1 to 20weight% with respect to the base material so that at least a part of the particles 2 may be show up above the base material surface. The antibacterial metal or the antibacterial metal compound 3 is then separately stuck on the particles 2 appearing on the base material. Thus not only can excellent antibacterial and fungicidal properties be displayed for a long period but also manufacturing can be facilely accomplished at low cost and deterioration of a mechanical property of the polymeric materials can be prevented.
