PURPOSE: A fungicide that contains 2-(2-fluorobenzmide)-5-trifluoromethyl-1,3,4- thiadiazole or the like as an active principle, thus being used to prevent the deterioration caused by wood-rotting fungi and to control rice sheath blight, orange canker and other blights.
CONSTITUTION: The fungicide contains, as an active principle, a compound of formula I (X is halogen, nitro, n is 1, 2; when n is 2, X may be equal or different). The compound is obtained, e.g., by the reaction between 2-amino-5-trifluoromethyl- 1,3,4-thiadiazole and a benzoyl chloride bearing halogen or nitro groups of formula II. The fungicide is very high effective on cabbage bacterial soft rot, tomato bacterial wilt, rice blast, helminthiosporium leaf spot, tomato late blight and cucumber anthracnose as well as the blights stated above.
